Trial set for social worker

As reported Indiana's Chronicle Tribune

A former social worker accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a minor has been scheduled for a bench trial in front of a special judge next month.

Elizabeth Marshall, who is charged with misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, will appear before Delaware Circuit Court 5 Judge Wayne Lennington in Grant Circuit Court at 1:30 p.m. June 23.

Local judges were forced to rescue in the case because of Elizabeth Marshall's family connections to the Grant County justice system - her husband, Jack, is a probation officer, and her father, Wayne Ellis, is the coordinator of the county's home detention program. Prosecutor James Luttrull Jr. also left the case, and Howard County Prosecutor Ronal Byal has assumed the prosecutorial duties.

Marshall 36, was pulled over July 24 by a Grant County sheriff's deputy and found to have a 16-year-old boy in her car in violation of a no-contact order, court records said.

Marshall had been a social worker at George Junior Republic, Gas City, but was not employed there at the time of the arrest.

Marshall's clinical social work license was revoked April 24 by the Indiana Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Counselor Board.

She remains free on $4,000 bond.
