Ottawa psychiatrist faces sex charges - Dr. Juan Rosario is accused of having sex with two male patients.

An update to an earlier report in that criminal charges have been filed

A psychiatrist facing a disciplinary hearing for allegedly tying a rope around a patient's genitals and leading him around the office, and other bizarre sexual behaviour, has been charged with six criminal counts of sexual assault.

Dr. Juan Tejeda Rosario, 63, appeared briefly in an Ottawa court Thursday after police allege he repeatedly sexually assaulted two male patients over the past 10 years.

The doctor is also scheduled to go before a College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario discipline committee in Toronto on Monday.

According to a notice of hearing, Tejeda is accused of engaging in sexual impropriety with a patient, sexually abusing a patient and engaging in conduct that would "reasonably be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional."

Among the allegations contained in the notice of hearing are that Tejeda had sex with two male patients, had both patients perform oral sex on him and masturbate him.

None of the allegations against Tejeda has been proven.

Tejeda and his lawyer, Todd Burke, have declined comment on the charges.
