A psychiatric nurse accused of killing her estranged husband began wailing as testimony in her trial began Wednesday, prompting a judge to declare a mistrial.
Geraldine Livingston's outburst was her second emotional breakdown in two days in Tippecanoe Superior Court. It came minutes after a psychiatrist said she appeared ready to resume her trial.
But as a prosecution witness began describing how he found Livingston's husband, Livingston laid her head on the defense table and began crying, "Oh, God! My baby!"
A similar breakdown brought an abrupt halt to the trial on Tuesday.
Attorneys for both sides agreed to make another attempt to hold the trial on Oct. 31 while they discuss a possible plea agreement.
Documenting Psychiatrists Behaving Badly
Of all professions, psychiatrists seem to get into the most trouble. I have been collecting stories about psychiatric screwups for a while. Sadly, it has been disgustingly easy to do. We post stories with links to the original sources. We couldn't make this stuff up if we wanted to. My Name is Sickmind Fraud.
